How to Install Roller Blinds

The Right Installation for a Perfect Finish

Getting Started

Installing your iSeekBlinds roller blind is a straight forward DIY project, we’re here to make sure you get it right the first time.

Below, you’ll find clear, step-by-step instructions along with videos showing exactly how it’s done. Whether you’ve ordered chain-driven or motorised blinds, just follow the steps that match your setup.

Installation instructions

In case you can’t have your device nearby to watch the videos whilst installing, we’ve created some written instructions that you can print out and keep with you. These instructions have been written as easy-to-follow steps, as we want to make your DIY installation as simple and pain free as possible.

Appropriate screws if installing into masonry, aluminium or metal

Tip: Pre-drilling your screw holes is recommended to avoid timber splitting, especially in older homes or when outside mounting.

What’s Included in the Box

Your blinds are packed with care and labelled with the room name to keep things organised.

Inside each box, you’ll find:

Carefully unpack your blind - avoid sharp tools

Placeholder Image

Lay it on a clean surface under the correct window

Placeholder Image

Check your parts and read the label for the room name

Placeholder Image

If your blind is white, use clean gloves to avoid marking the fabric

Step 2: Mark Your Bracket Positions

Placeholder Image

Hold each bracket in position

Placeholder Image

Use a pencil to mark screw hole positions

Placeholder Image

The male bracket goes on the chain or motor side

Placeholder Image

The female bracket goes on the pin end

Placeholder Image

Use a spirit level to check alignment

Step 3: Fix the Brackets

Placeholder Image

Pre-drill holes if needed

Placeholder Image

Use your cordless screwdriver and the screws provided

Placeholder Image

For outside mounts, slide on the bracket covers before fixing

Placeholder Image

Make sure the brackets are level and secure

Step 4: Install the Blind

For Chain Drive:

Placeholder Image

Ensure the chain hangs evenly and the chain guide is facing down

Placeholder Image

Insert the chain end into the male bracket first

Placeholder Image

Guide the pin end into the female bracket until it clicks

Placeholder Image

There should be 1.5 – 2mm of side-to-side movement (known as float)

Placeholder Image

Adjust bracket positions or extend the pin if needed

For Motorised:

Placeholder Image

Make sure the flat side of the motor is facing down (6 oclock)

Placeholder Image

Unroll about 20cm of fabric before installation

Placeholder Image

Insert the motor end into the male bracket

Placeholder Image

Keep the blind level as you guide the pin end into the female bracket

Placeholder Image

Check for proper float (1.5–2mm)

Important note for installing motor blinds. Insure you are always holding the end of the motor in position (two people recommended). If the blind is tilted down the motor will slide out of the tube and cannot be installed correctly.

Chain Drive Only – Finish with Safety Features

Stop Ball

Placeholder Image

Lower the blind to the bottom

Placeholder Image

Attach the stop ball to the chain just before it enters the control

Placeholder Image

This prevents the fabric from over-rolling and keeps your mechanism safe

Child Safety Cleat

Placeholder Image

Ensure the chain is positioned inside the cleat before attaching to the wall

Placeholder Image

Fix the cleat to the wall or window frame with supplied screw.

Placeholder Image

Attaching the cleat to a wooden frame or wall studs is best.

Placeholder Image

The chain should hang down with minimal tension.

Placeholder Image

Required by law for safety and to maintain your warranty

Placeholder Image

Don’t remove the warning tag attached to the chain

Installing a Pelmet (If Ordered)

A Pelmet adds a polished finish to your roller blind and helps reduce dust. Watch the video for a full walkthrough.

Placeholder Image

Install the spring-loaded brackets level to the architrave or wall. The brackets can sit 150mm from the outside edges to insure a strong fixing. This can be adjusted if necessary

Placeholder Image

Attach the pelmet to the spring-loaded brackets provided with slight tilt motion.

Placeholder Image

Your roller blind brackets are already installed inside the pelmet

Placeholder Image

Once the pelmet is up, simply click your roller blind into place inside the pelmet.

Placeholder Image

Always hold the motor end when installing and keep blind level at all times.

Final Checks

Placeholder Image

Test the blind - make sure it rolls smoothly and tracks evenly

Placeholder Image

If it’s drifting to one side, unroll the blind and apply a small strip of masking tape to the opposite end of the aluminium tube

Placeholder Image

For motorised blinds, complete remote pairing and test operation

Blind won’t click in:

Retract the pin end slightly and try again. Always install the control or motor side first.

Blind rolls unevenly:

Use masking tape to correct the roll direction.

Chain feels tight or has broken:

If mounted outside adjust bracket to allow for 1.5mm float from left to right.

If inside mounted the blind has been measured incorrectly and installed two tight inside the reveal. See our trouble shooting videos.

If chain has broken at the position of the stop ball, then due care was not taken when lowering the blind and subsequent damage has occurred.

Cleaning your blind:

Wipe gently with a soft, neutral colored damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive rubbing. You can also use a vacuum with brush attachment.
